It is with great sadness that our friend, Brent Stiffer lost his battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Most of our team will remember Brent as he was the head wine guru at Fed Ex and led the charge to open more states and make wine shipping easier for us and our partners. He led the idea behind the Fed Ex wine rules web site and other innovations within the industry. I met Brent about a decade ago when ecommerce wine programs were first getting off the ground. We sat for several hours, discussing how convoluted the rules are and why couldn’t a company like Fed Ex help make it easier for ecommerce and wine fulfillment companies. Brett must have sat in several conversations over a glass of wine and heard the same thing, as he made it his charter within Fed Ex to assist in wine shipping and make Fed Ex a leader in the category of wine shipping. Under his leadership Fed Ex rose to the occasion, always leading discussion and dialog and representing Fed Ex in major industry wine discussions. When beauracy got in the way, he found a way through it, in the end salvaging the customer need and leading the way. Brent was always a phone call away and rather I called him at 10 pm or 6 am he would always take my call, no matter how trivial in hindsight.
 Brent had a great smile, a warm presence and a passion for great wines recognizing the fellowship and celebrations that wine and people bring to life. Today, we raise a glass of aged Cabernet to Brent and his family, to a man that will be missed.
